Learning How to Shoot on a Shoestring

If an actor were to try to shoot something themselves without going to film school first, they can either:
  1. Make stuff up as they go along (cribing from what they've seen others do)
  2. do some research
Or they can do both. In the spirit of the second, I watched the free download from iTunes of Acceptable.tv's Tutorials. It was entertaining, and I learned a little about shooting of a shoestring (e.g., no proper lighting kit).

What 'They' Want

The outcome of the audition is usually not affected by the performance of the actors who are auditioning - but only by what the producer really wants.
What ‘they’ are looking for is something that is completely out of your control.
(from Bob Fraser’s new acting career course, Nail It! – Mastering the Hypnotic Audition, which will be available soon.)

Recommended Place for DVDs, Airchecks

While I have never used them, I've heard EditPlus, in Sherman Oaks is a good place to go for DVD authoring, editing, airchecks (high quality version of Network shows) and the like. Their number is said to be 1 (877) EDITPLUS. If you have any experience with them/alternatives, please leave a comment.
