Back Stage Now Nationwide
... we've merged Back Stage East and Back Stage West into a single weekly publication, which will be available as a tabloid-sized newspaper on newsstands, in bookstores, and in subscribers' mailboxes across the U.S.

Millennials Will Be Biggest Audience by 2010
By the year 2010, Millennials, born between 1982 and 2000, will outnumber both Baby Boomers and Gen-Xers and will be the most significant consumer sector for the media & entertainment industries.
Not only will they be big; they will be fragmented and difficult to reach. The increasing number of media channels - instant messaging, email, social networks, chat rooms, iPods, mobile phones, MP3 Players, P2P networks, handheld devices, digital video recorders, video games, game consoles and next generation communities and devices - through which this generation communicates and consumes media & entertainment, makes them a highly elusive target for businesses hoping to reach to them

SAG Moves Toward Strike Authorization Vote
SAG wants to negotitiate, but producers refuse to talk, now SAG's Negotiating Committee advises the Board to hold a strike authorization vote:
A strike authorization vote of the membership is necessary to overcome the employers’ intransigence, and the Committee therefore recommends that the National Board authorize such a vote be taken; and further recommends:
That the National Board adopt a resolution strongly supporting such an action, and recommending that the membership vote in favor of a strike authorization; and
That the National Board endorse an educational campaign advocating a "yes" membership vote, to give the authority to the National Board to call a strike only if the National Board deems it necessary and unavoidable to do so
(from sag.org). SAG needs 75% to authorize a strike (PDF). About 87% of SAG members want more negotiating, only 12.73% would accept the AMPTP's current offer.

AMPTP Rejects Negotiation
Dear Alan and Doug:
This is in response to your letter dated September 29, 2008 to Peter Chernin, Robert Iger and me. Your letter indicates that the Screen Actors Guild is not prepared to change its position on any of the threshold issues in our negotiations. The Guild's position remains unchanged since we last met on July 16, 2008. Further, in addition to new media, there are a number of significant issues which, in and of themselves, prevent the parties from reaching agreement.
We do not believe that it would be productive to resume negotiations at this time given SAG's continued insistence on terms which the Companies have repeatedly rejected
