How Many People Have Your Name
If you need a stage name, you can check to see how common it is before you commit to it. For instance, if it said there are many people with your name in the US. That, combined with the numerous people in SAG, is why you may need a stage name.

David Moutier. Oooh, that's too close to that guy on Full House. Nevermind. Steal the last name of your favorite actor. I can't remember who but some famous actor did that when he was told to pick a name for credits because his was taken. He looked up at a marquee and stole the last name of his favorite actress. I think that's how the story went.
