For Now, Casters Won't Strike:
The nation's casting directors should decide sometime in the next three months whether they will affiliate with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. That decision, in turn, will determine whether the casters - through the Teamsters union - will then negotiate a first-time bargaining agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).
The Teamsters and the AMPTP, at a meeting last week in Los Angeles, agreed that the casting directors could hold an election conducted through the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)
